The Healing Quilt

A disparate group of women are recruited to work on a quilt for a hospital fundraiser. As their lives are revealed, to the reader and to each other, relationships happen, or do not.
I remember being really bowled over by this book--touched a lot of nerves--and wishing I were part of such a group instead of feeling as disconnected as I often do. And to have time to sit and quilt....ah!

Lamentations

Probably one of the saddest books, just on face value, would have to be the book of Lamentations in the Old Testament. Check it out! These folks had something to cry about.
